Information

Cap is a stone which is distinctive within Purbeck as it does not contain any obvious fossil shell content. It incorporates interesting flint markings, calcite veins and patches of varying hues. The soft beige and grey tones create a calm, understated look with gentle variation across the surface.

Cap is a very hard stone, which contains characteristic flint nodules. Used traditionally for kerbs, In 2025 Haysom Purbeck Stone supplied Cap for exterior paving around the refurbished Poole Museum, to match existing historic Cap paving in the adjacent streets.
