Natural Face Coursed Paving (Roach)

Purbeck Roach makes excellent exterior paving. As this bed of stone naturally occurs in slightly smaller blocks than other beds and in irregular shapes and sizes, choosing this set width and random length format allows for the most efficient and therefore cost-effective use of each block. Natural Faced Roach paving is split, giving it a natural face on both the top and bottom of each piece. Lengths are usually not less than square and up to twice the 300mm width.

Natural Face

Our Natural Face (or ‘Riven’) finish is simply the natural surface of a quarried block, or produced by splitting a block rather than sawing. Natural Face therefore reveals each stone’s distinctive natural textures including little fossilised shells, veins, and varied colouration. Natural Face has a rugged undulating surface, and its rustic appearance makes a good match with Purbeck dry stone walling, rockery, and stone roof tiles. Purbeck stone is a limestone, which naturally weathers. Depending on its application and exposure, its surface appearance will change over time.
